The Role Of Islam in End-time Bible Prophecy

Christianity and Islam have been rivals on the world stage for fourteen-hundred years. The Moslem advance into Europe was stop-ped by Charles Martel in France in 722 A.D. Constanople, the capital of the eastern wing of the old Roman Empire, fell to the Moslems about 1453 A.D. When Christianity began to prosper with the advent of the Protestant Reformation and the later Wesleyan revival Islam went on the wane. With the waning influence of Christianity in the Roman West in modern times, Islam is once more on the rise.

At the end of the age the Roman West will fall before the rising power of the East (Revelation 16:12). Chrysostom wrote about this in the Fourth Century (see John Chrysostom, “Homilies on Thessalonians,” in A Select Library of Nicene and Post-Nicene fathers of the Christian Church, 15 vols., 13:389). Another named Lactantius (A.D. 260-330) said the same thing (see “The Divine Institutes,” in The Anti-Nicene Fathers, 10 vols., 7:212).

Daniel 7:11 says that it is because of the great words that the little horn speaks that the Roman beast empire ultimately will be slain and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame. The diabolical rhetoric of Islam against the West will only intensify as the moral degeneration of the West increases. At the end of this age it appears that Islam will be used as the “scourge of God” to bring judgment on apostate Christendom.

Those who are concerned about this matter should be equally concerned for a major reformation of fundamental Christianity in modern times. Promoting such reformation is what we are about.
