Are We Honestly Ready For The Coming Judgment Day?

It is hard for most of we moderns to realize that the long-prophesied biblical Day of Judgment upon the world for sin and wickedness is really coming. Liberal theology has so triumphed among us that it has alienated our minds from the ability to perceive any longer spiritual and moral realities. As a result we have an intellectually-mesmerized church-world asleep at the approaching crisis midnight hour!

On the one hand of our society are those who deny the millennial second coming of Jesus Christ in judgment altogether. Many of these are secularists and materialists who have no use for religious thought concerning the historic Christian church's views on eschatology. "So many different religious cults have so many different ideas on this matter nowadays, how can anyone begin to know the truth?" they reason.

Others claim to be Bible-believing Christians, yet deny the relevance of Christ's bodily return within the context of us now, and in our future. Their story is that all of biblical apocalyptic ism was already fulfilled at the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. Now it is their business to inform the rest of us that we are ignorant by still clinging to what the historic Christian Church confessed concerning the future amillennial coming of Christ in judgment.

Article 8 of the Nicene Creed speaks clearly of the ancient Church's faith in the future bodily second coming of Jesus Christ as follows: "and is coming again with glory, to judge both the quick and the dead; Whose kingdom shall have no end."

This creed says nothing about some one-thousand year Jewish kingdom to set up on earth after Jesus comes again. As a result of our modern doctrinal chaos over the fable of so-called "premillennialism," a great many people are now being intellectually and morally blind-sided toward the second coming of Jesus Christ altogether. Here, indeed, are all the classic psychological effects of a huge scandal happening.

Theological antinomianism has been taught as "gospel truth" for many years. Now antinomianism, or lawlessness, sits entrenched, triumphant, in the mind set of the evangelical masses. The spirit of antichrist has made its false covenant with the evangelical mind--a scandal now widely in the breaking, as evidenced by the billowing fogs of confusion that now envelop this subject of biblical eschatology on every hand.

God knew beforehand, and foretold that this would happen: "That day shall not come except there come a falling away first, and the man of lawlessness be revealed" (II Thess. 2:3ff.).

Today the man of lawlessness is indeed revealed by means of Satan rip-snorting all over the modern-day evangelical church-world via the delusions of religious antinomianism, or lawlessness. The evidence is seen in this: modern apostates from the Christian faith call Bible standards of holiness in dress "legalism"--that is how we can so easily recognize the Bible standards- forsaking antinomian religious church crowd everywhere today. Their conformity to the world in the burning issue of dress, or outward adornment, betrays their lack of commitment to an obedience of the gospel, which calls for transformation in all the patterns of our ordinary life.

Godliness is a "culture," whether modern liberal theologians want to accept that fact or not. Hence, in the issue of the maintenance, or non maintenance, of a godly culture is where the rubber meets the road, and where our "repentance" of sin can, and must, become extremely relevant. Concrete separation from the fleshly lifestyles of the unregenerate world is still a part of the true Christian gospel (cf. Rom. 12:2; II Cor. 6:17:18; I Jn. 2:15-17).

In the midst of the great falling away in these end-times, God still has a faithful remnant who abide in the old paths of righteousness and true holiness in heart and life. These alone, are truly "ready" for the coming Day of Judgment.

The rest are merely fooling themselves.
