Be Encouraged, Jesus Is Almost Here!

“Looking for and hastening unto the coming of the day of God” (II Pet. 3:12).

What can we expect to happen before Christ returns?

According to II Thessalonians 2:1-12 we can expect a great apostasy to happen in the Church before the day of Christ arrives: “that day shall not come except thee come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition” (verse 3).

Satan is unleased at the end of time to lead the nations in a great rebellion against the gospel and the Church of God (Rev. 20:7-10). So severe is this rebellion and battle against the truth that the Church is largely overcome by it (Rev. 11:7-10).

During the awful modernistic period of apostasy in the Church, great torments of devastation and destruction are experienced among the population of earth (Rev. 9:10). Satan himself is ringleader of this carnage (Rev. 9:11). His agents are fallen ministers of the gospel (Rev. 9:1; cf. with Matt. 16:19).

The “five months” in which this great working of apostasy prevails (Rev. 9:5, 10), refers to a period of about 150 years. (One month in prophetic numerology refers to thirty days--the days then standing in for years--hence thirty years. Five months, then, is thirty years, times five, or approximately 150 years.)

The beginning of this great end-time apostasy started back in the middle of the nineteenth century (approximately 150 years ago) as the gradual rise of Antinomianism in the Christian movement replaced the genuine New Testament teaching of the gospel.

Now we are nearing the end of this long period of the Devil’s heyday being unleashed upon the world, as a result of the Christian movement’s forsaking of sound doctrine (I Tim. 4:1-3; II Tim. 4:3-4).

Thank God some are still standing true to the Lord and Scriptural Holiness in these evil days of unbelief (Rev. 9:4). To these faithful ones we say: “be encouraged”! Jesus is coming soon for the general resurrection and in universal judgment (II Thess. 1:7-10; Rev. 1:7). He will find His Church awake and ready (Rev. 15:16)! Behold the Bridegroom cometh! Gird, and be glad!
