The Catch-Twenty Trap Of Modern Liberal Theology

Millions of we moderns have been deceived into thinking that dispensational premillennial distinctives are the fundamental teaching of the Bible. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Instead, dispensational ideology is really but a new form of modern liberalism in thin disguise.

The first reason dispensational premillennial ideology is liberal thinking is because the grounds for its maintenance reside wholly in subjectivity, and subjectivity is the central hallmark of modern liberal theology.

The academic legitimacy of the dispensational system stems solely from the subjective decision-making of the interpreter; its truth claims cannot be substantiated when critically examined under the searchlight of true Christian scholarship. When subjectivity is laid aside, however, and the objective factors of intellectual honesty, reason, and logic are applied to the Word of God, the exegetical fallacies of the dispensational system are quickly made manifest.

That brings us to a second characteristic of modern liberal theology, which is anti-rationalism. As liberal theology in disguise, dispensationalism in not only based on the subjectivity of the interpreter, it fosters an anti-rational bias toward the Word of God as well.

Liberal thinking says that no one can know for sure what the Bible teaches about the second coming of Jesus Christ. Dispensationalists, too, are ultimately pressed to that conclusion. Why?

Because they fail to be objective, honest, and rational in their approach to biblical eschatology. If they were, these criteria would soon converge to debunk the false truth claims of the dispensational theory.

Friends, the Holy Spirit would have us to be objective, honest, and rational in our religion. And if we are, we will soon get over Darbyism. those who fail go get over Darbyism ultimately end up in the camp of modern liberal theology. Their anti-rational biases and subjective approach to the Christian faith combine to insure that sad result.
