The Truth Of II Peter 3:10

Darbyism's common distortion of II Peter 3:10 goes like this: "The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night in the which the church will be secretly raptured out."

In other words, dispensationalists APPLY the "thief in the night" coming stated here to the idea of Christ coming for a secret pretribulation rapture of the church.

What is truly astounding however, is the fact that not a single word is said about any such secret pre-tribulation rapture in this text! If we are going to be truly honest with the text, then WHAT must we admit is coming as a thief in the night?

The judgment, right? "The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night IN THE WHICH . . . WHAT?

ANSWER: "In the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

Friends, the "day of the Lord" arrives with a sudden, massive, catastrophic judgment of the earth by fire. It does not begin with a secret rapture, nor does it begin when Antichrist signs a peace deal with the Jews for seven years!

Where does this text mention anything about a seven year period?

When you find a seven year great tribulation period mentioned anywhere in II Peter chapter three, friend, please let me know. It might be that I need a new pair of glasses, so I can see to read the text a little better!
