A Mighty Revival Is Sweeping This Way
With God all things are possible! Thus, the questions is not whether or not a
great sweeping revival in our time is possible, the questions are: (1) is it
God’s will; and (2) do we really want it?
Friends, it is God’s will that the whole world should be saved from sin! This
affirmation is a basic lesson in our theology--it is what we historically, as a
Wesleyan-Arminian movement, have believed and taught.
Do we still firmly hold to the world-redeeming vision of Jesus Christ? If we do, it will be reflected in our mode of operation. There is nothing shriveled or small about the world-redeeming vision and task of Jesus Christ! It is an overwhelming concept, the passion of which should drive us to our knees in utter helplessness of the human possibility of its attainment. God must arise to maintain His own cause. Will He?
Indeed! We work, because God is already working. If God were not already
working, it would do us little good to work now. God is working to save the
world. Do we, as a Holiness Movement, really believe that?
And how is God doing this? He is a Sower sowing seed (Matt. 13:37). The seed is the words of truth that He Himself has spoken. There is absolute truth in the world today, friends, and that truth is an historical person--the Lord Jesus Christ (Jn. 14:6).
And how do we come to know this Jesus? He is the “Word,” and the revelation of Him is through ”words.” “Take with you words, and turn to the Lord” (Hosea 14:2). Only in prepared soil will the good seed of the gospel bring forth enduring fruit. And what is the process of tearing up peoples’ gestalted mentality patch?
Truth awareness and truth confrontation--matters both entirely rational and objective.
