How To Prepare For Christ's Return
The second coming of Jesus Christ is a glorious future event all Christians are exhorted to believe in (Jn. 14:1-3), to watch for (Matt. 24:42; 25:13), to eagerly anticipate (Titus 2:13; Heb. 9:28; II Pet. 3:1-12), and to seek, as best as possible, to scripturally understand.
Now the New testament lists at least nine different ways in which Christians should prepare for the second coming of Jesus Christ. We prepare for Christ's return by:
1. Purifying ourselves and letting God sanctify us wholly (Col. 3:4-14; I Thess. 5:23-24; I Jn. 3:3).
2. Abiding in Christ (Jn. 15:1-6; I Jn. 2:28).
3. Abounding more and more in love, knowledge, and judgment (Phil. 1:9-10; I Thess. 3:12-13).
4. Meeting together to exhort one another, and to show forth Christ's death till He comes (Heb. 10:25; I Cor. 11:26).
5. Laboring for Christ (I Cor. 15:58).
6. Living soberly (I Pet. 4:7).
7. Living patiently (Heb. 10:36-37; Ja. 5:8).
8. Enduring trials and temptations (Ja. 1:12; I Pet. 1:6-7).
9. Holding fast to sound doctrine, and not being misled by the end-time delusions of the Devil (II Tim. 4:1-5).
