Daniel 12:11 says there will be 1,290 days from the cessation of the daily sacrifice and the placing of the abomination of desolation. This is 1,260 days plus 30 days. The 1,260 day’s part, we believe, refers to the elongated second or last half of Daniel’s 70th week, which is the entire period of this present messianic kingdom age of the gospel calling of the Gentiles now lying between the termination of the old covenant in 70 A.D. (Hebrews 8:13) and Christ’s second advent. This is a concept we have taught widely now for many years, please see our related articles for full details. The extra 30 days is one month, or in keeping with our system of interpretation, a generation of forty years. So this extra 40 year period points backward from 70 A.D. to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ in 30 A.D., wherein the efficacy of the entire Jewish sacrificial system was ended and the new covenant era begun. Daniel 12:12 further explains that there will be an addition period of 45 days added to the 1,290 day period of verse 11, or 1,335 days. This 1,335 days is 75 days longer that the base 1,260 days, or last half of the 70th week as explained above. Translate these extra days as years, and we see that they reach back from 70 A.D. to the birth of Christ in 5 B.C. Evidence that the birth of Christ occurred at the precise end of Daniel’s first 69 weeks, on July 13, 5 B.C., is outlined in our book on the Seventy Weeks, which see for details.

From 167 B.C. to 26 A.D. is the 2,300 days of Daniel 8:14. These 2,300 evenings and mornings (marginal reading) point to those evening and morning periods for the regular sightings of the moon, which determined the passage of time. The 2,300 days is revealing the total number of lunar cycles or months until the sanctuary would be cleansed or properly restored after it was desecrated by Antiochus Epiphanes in December 167 B.C. So 2,300 lunar cycles or months translates into 191 lunar years and 8 months (i.e., 2,300 divided by 12). Adding these 191 lunar years and 8 months to December 167 B.C. brings us to 26 A.D. and the start of Christ’s public ministry among the Jews when He began to rise up the cleansed and restored true temple of God on earth, the Christian Church.

The 1,680 years between 135 A.D. and 1815 A.D. is the 42 months of Revelation 11:2 and 13:6, wherein a month symbolizes a generation of 40 years (40 x 42 = 1,680 years). In 135 the Jewish commonwealth was completely annihilated by the Roman Emperor Hadrian. The year 1815 marked the defeat of Napoleon in the Battle of Waterloo. Napoleon brought liberation to the Jews and the end of Papal control of Europe through the 1,000 year-long Holy Roman Empire. This 1815 date thus marks the transition between the authoritarian dominance of Rome and the rise and later dominance of Zionism. Zionism is the last great world empire (the great harlot/city Babylon or revived earthly Jerusalem), which is to be destroyed by the revolting nations at the end-time (Revelation 17:16-17).

The 200 years between 1815 and 2015 is the five months of Revelation 9:5 and 10. It’s the same principle of a month symbolizing a generation of forty years just mentioned. Under the semblance of the 5th trumpet sounding of Revelation 9:1-11 we see demonic hordes unleashed upon those who have not the seal of God in their foreheads (true Christians). This phenomenon is caused by fallen ministers of the gospel introducing many new religious cults of false doctrine, as broached in the last edition of this newsletter. The rise of democracy or people rule in the West leveled the playing field for the spread of these demonic heresies. While this period has been one of great opportunity for the gospel it has also been one of great peril to the church.
