Preacher, Was Your Prophecy Teacher in Bible School
Fifty Years Ago Deceived By Sir Robert Anderson?

A preacher is no better than his or her education. And most of us are typically human enough to simply believe what we were taught.

Many holiness Bible colleges fifty years ago were teaching Larkin’s Dispensational Truths in the classroom as “the gospel.” Of course times have changed, but old guard preachers and evangelists who were taught Scofield/Darbyism in the classroom fifty years ago (because their teacher had been deceived by Sir Robert Anderson’s theory of interpreting Daniel’s prophecy of the Seventy Weeks!) have been for a very long time now stuck in a gestalt. A life and ministry has been colored by enamoration with false teaching, and the results have been tragic.

What the dispensational theory that we were learning in the classroom fifty years ago really was, dear friends, was “a substitute for holiness, or antinomianism revived.” It was ”another gospel” that put us on the skids to becoming liberals and going worldly. These awakening statements are to deep for shallow minds, I know, but if the Holy Ghost abides in us, friends, then we ought to be able to handle a little deeper stuff, wouldn’t you think?

Truth is the issue. And interest in the truth is everybody’s choice. The treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously and we are very lean. Now let’s all make the right choice to move off our settled lees, to give up the entrenched prejudices of Darbyism, be open-minded, learn, change, and grow.

Why will ye die O house of Israel?
