Detailed Bible Passage Expositions
The are two primary methods of doing Bible study. The one method is called the deductive method of Bible study, and the other is called the inductive method of study. The deductive method starts with a general conclusion. (Let's say in the case of classic dispensationalism that we start with the preconceived idea of the existence of some future seven year great tribulation period as a catalyst for organizing and harmonizing every other aspect of end-time Bible prophecy detail with which to start.)
Next we seek to interpret all the specific details of all the available prophetic materials in the context, or on the basis of, our beginning assumption. (In the case of classic dispensationalism the idea of the existence of the future seven year great tribulation period is sought everywhere to be super-imposed upon the New Testament, when, in fact, the New Testament itself never once mentions the idea of the future seven years.)
Again, the process of reasoning we have just described is called the deductive method of Bible study, that is, interpreting specific details of a passage, or passages, in accordance with some general, preconceived idea, rather than actually listening to what the particulars themselves have to say in the light of their own individual contexts. The inductive method of study, by contrast, starts by examining all the specific details of the subject matter in the light of their own immediate contexts first, and then draws a general conclusion from what has been learned thereby.
In the inductive method of Bible study conclusions are not presented until all the specific details have first been individually examined. The conclusions thus arrived at are drawn from, or out of, the details, rather than being read into them. Clearly then, the inductive method of study is the only safe and accurate way to build doctrine from the Bible. Below are listed some random specific prophetic or prophetic related texts of Scripture that we have attempted to interpret in the inductive manner. I hope that these examples may be a help to you.
